Chief Accountant

Our Client is an international, leading commercial real estate investment company with a solid portfolio of retail assets in the most active markets of the CEE region. The company is looking for an experienced Chief Accountant to join its Accountancy & Finance team that covers top-positioned shopping centers such as Aréna Mall and Mammut.

 

Feladatok

As the Chief Accountant, you will be the cornerstone of the financial operations of the company in Hungary. You will be responsible for transitioning the accounting processes in-house, leading the internal team, and implementing cutting-edge software. This is not just about numbers, it's about creating the financial blueprint that will steer the real estate group into the future.

 

Immediate Projects - Key Priorities:

  • Transition the accounting function in-house from an external service provider.
  • Design the accounting structure and take charge of team recruitment.
  • Oversee the rollout of new group-wide accounting software.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the accounting functions for companies within the group.
  • Foster a motivated and proficient accounting team.
  • Engage in monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing activities.
  • Prepare and submit comprehensive financial statements.
  • File accurate tax returns in compliance with regulations.
  • Facilitate the annual statutory audit, ensuring all financial records are in order.
  • Keep abreast of changes in tax laws and disseminate this knowledge within the team.
  • Maintain effective communication channels with partners and suppliers.

Elvárások

  • University/College Degree and/or Chartered Accountant Qualification.
  • Active Chartered Accountant Registration.
  • Comprehensive expertise in both Hungarian Accounting Standards and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Experienced in VAT, CIT (Corporate Income Tax) and PECs (Preferred Equity Certificates).
  • Experience in the real estate sector preferred, but solid General Ledger background is enough for the beginnig.
  • Native Hungarian and full proficiency in English.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics NAV (NAVISION) or Dynamics AX (previously known as Axapta) represent a big plus.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Exceptional problem-solving ability.
  • Capability to meet stringent deadlines.
  • Well-developed communication skills, able to efficiently communicate internally (with the local and international teams) and externally (local authorities).
