Role purpose
The Cloud Architect is responsible for designing, implementing, and managing cloud infrastructure and services to ensure scalability, reliability, and security. The cloud architect works closely with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translates them into robust cloud solutions and has a strong background in cloud technologies, architecture design, and project management.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement cloud infrastructure solutions based on business requirements, best practices, and industry standards.
- Develop cloud architecture blueprints, including network design, data storage, compute resources, and security controls.
- Collaborate with development, operations, and security teams to ensure alignment of cloud initiatives with business objectives and compliance requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to project teams throughout the entire project lifecycle, from planning and design to deployment and maintenance.
- Evaluate cloud services, platforms, and tools to identify opportunities for optimization, cost savings, and performance improvement.
- Implement and maintain cloud security controls, including identity and access management, encryption, and network security.
- Monitor cloud infrastructure performance, assist in troubleshooting issues, and implement solutions to ensure high availability and reliability.
- Stay abreast of emerging cloud technologies, trends, and best practices to drive continuous improvement and innovation.
- Lead the planning, design, and engineering of enterprise-level infrastructure and platforms, application integrations related to cloud computing
- Participate in developing and maintaining IT infrastructure strategy and associated roadmap
- Maintain design documents of systems in production
- Be a champion for DevOps practices across the organization, providing solution design and implementation guidance, coaching, mentoring, and technical support
Your qualifications and skills
- 5+ years of experience in cloud architecture design, implementation, and management, with a focus on public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
- Cloud application development experience is a nice to have
- Experience in a multinational IT environment
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
- Fluency in English
- Strong understanding of cloud computing principles, including IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, public private, hybrid
- Proficiency in cloud infrastructure automation and orchestration tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation, Bicep or Azure Resource Manager.
- Hands-on experience with containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes) and microservices architecture.
- Experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment tools (Bamboo, VSTS, TeamCity)
- Experience implementing cloud security controls and best practices, including identity management, encryption, and compliance frameworks (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2).
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and a results-driven mindset.
- Track record of delivering applications and cloud-based infrastructure delivery in an agile environment
- Relevant public cloud industry certifications are highly desirable.
- Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture and the basics of IT budgeting
- Experience with major scripting/programming language (Python, C#, Powershell etc.)
